What are the main goals/purposes of Music?
The main purpose of the music ministry is to enhance the worship life of St. Paul through the use of people’s musical gifts. From the organists guiding the congregational singing to ensembles and individuals offering special music during worship, music is an integral component of our worship life.
How does this ministry fulfill God's will?
Music has always been a component of the worship life of God’s people (Psalm 96:1; Psalm 101:1). It gives expression to our prayers, praise, and thanks to God, and assists in the proclamation of God’s grace and mercy to those who provide and hear it.
How does Music meet the needs of the congregation and the surrounding community?
We provide opportunities for people to utilize their musical gifts through ensembles (choir, bell choir, children’s choir) or through solo offerings (vocal, instrumental) in service to God.
What talents or abilities do we look for in potential members during Worship?
Any musical ability is welcome to put to use. Presently, we are in need of a director for our choir. This would involve selecting music, leading rehearsals, and directing the choir during services.
When and where does Music meet?
Rehearsal times for the ensembles vary. The rehearsal schedule for the choir is not presently set. The Joyful Ringers (bell choir) generally gathers to rehearse the mornings they play for worship. The children’s choir rehearses at the beginning of the Sunday School hour.
What projects are we currently working on for our music life?
Presently, we are searching for an individual to direct our choir. Other than that, there are no real projects in the works.
How does this ministry fulfill the mission of St. Paul Lutheran Church?
Music is a wonderful tool for conveying the Gospel. Our music ministry is in place to enhance the proclamation of life and salvation given through Jesus Christ.
